A Design research project examining properties within an auxetic material system. In a series of experiments we came to understand and control the variables of an auxetic system (composed of acrilan fiber sheet material and rubber bands), these experiments examined the effects of different variables in the stretching manipulations on the overall form obtained.
We concluded the research with a proposed application of a custom parametric footwear creation concept.
The customized footwear would provide both a snug fit and orthopedic support, personally fitted to one's foot via a Grasshopper algorithm.
